About Advanced Ophthalmic Systems Ltd (AOS)

At Advanced Ophthalmic Systems Ltd (AOS), our mission is to equip the eyecare industry with innovative digital tools that enable exceptional customer experiences. We understand the evolving needs of modern eyecare practices and are dedicated to providing solutions that streamline workflows, enhance patient care, and drive efficiency.

Since 2018, AOS has been at the forefront of digital ophthalmic innovation. Our first product digitised the Efron scale, offering greater repeatability and consistency across patient examinations and subsequently validated by City University of London. Our commitment to precision, innovation and regulatory compliance is at the cornerstone of our development.

2020 created a shift in healthcare provision, prompting us to design, develop and deploy a web-based product with accompanying mobile app within 6 months and including a new toolset; telemedicine, contact lens fitting tool, and integrated image gallery. The mobile app allowed patients to safely and accurately capture and submit images of their eyes directly into their records, revolutionizing remote consultations. By 2021, we further expanded our suite with a synchronous online visual acuity tool, continuously enhancing remote care capabilities.

Today, in 2025, we are embracing a web-services architecture. AOS tools can now be integrated directly into any existing patient management system. Our digital tools, available via APIs, mini web applications, and SDKs, enable eyecare providers to perform crucial tasks, from grading pathologies like bulbar redness and monitoring dry eye conditions to conducting visual acuity tests.

We are proud to work collaboratively with other industry providers, always listening and adapting to improve the eyecare experience for both the provider and the patient. AOS has been registered as a medical device since 2018 and is fully compliant with regulatory standards, including registration with the MHRA, FDA, and MDR as a Class I device.
